A mediados de 2006 comenzamos a jugar con Google Maps, una herramienta con un potencial enorme, pero más allá de las fotos satelitales la información que poseía de Argentina era y sigue siendo pobre. Conseguimos integrar algunos mapas provistos por Microsoft que contaban con más información (rutas de Argentina y calles en Buenos Aires) y con el armamos el primer mapa de alojamiento, correspondiente a Buenos Aires, en donde georreferenciamos a mano, unos 400 establecimientos entre hoteles y albergues. Fue un trabajo tedioso pero que dió sus frutos ya que fue mencionado por su originalidad en varios sitios de Argentina y el exterior.

Esto nos animó a seguir con la tarea, generando los mapas de Carilo, Córdoba, Mar del Plata y Villa General Belgrano.

During 2006 we started playing with Google Maps, a tool with enormous potential, but sadly with little information for Argentina, beside the satellite photos. So we found how to integrate them with the maps provided by Microsoft's Virtual Earth that had information about towns and routes in Argentina and streets in Buenos Aires. With this first mashup we created an interactive lodging map for Buenos Aires, where we mapped about 400 hotels, bed and breakfasts and hostels. It was a tedious job, but ultimately rewarded as it was mentioned in several sites of Argentina and the world.

This helped us to follow with the task, creating the interactive maps for Carilo, Córdoba, Mar del Plata and Villa General Belgrano.

Objetivos / Objectives

Intentamos habilitar una forma novedosa de buscar alojamientos en los principales sitios turisticos de la Argentina, permitiendo ver los alrededores en relación a los establecimientos mostrados y a las referencias turísticas más importantes

We try to enable a new way of searching lodging alternatives in the major touristic centres of Argentina, letting our visitors to see the surroundings of the sites indexed in our directoy
